Position Summary:
The IT Manager functions as a key contributor to the IT Department and overall organization to empower a creative, data driven culture to support the organization in achieving business goals by leveraging effective, progressive technology. The IT Manager oversees and manages the day-to-day activities of Wilcox + Flegel’s IT Team, infrastructure, and day to day IT operations. They will also act as the primary liaison between the internal IT team, the Managed Service Provider (MSP), and leadership to ensure alignment on strategic goals, priorities, and projects. Responsible to consistently role model our Core Values.
Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:
Builds, leads, develops, and manages a high-performing IT Team, ensuring each team member delivers a high level of service and results, aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.
Champions the implementation of Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) within area of responsibility, as well as competency growth and development of direct reports in implementing and utilizing EOS.
Manages and leads the IT team, assigning tasks, handling escalations, and directly supporting end users.
Oversees the daily IT operations across multiple locations, including convenience stores, warehouses, offices, and cardlock fueling stations - ensuring system availability, performance, and security.
Manages and monitors all IT infrastructure components (servers, networks, telecom, wireless, cellular services, printers, copiers, and peripheral devices) for irregularities, performance issues, and upgrade needs.
Performs system assessments using error logs, user reports, and monitoring tools to identify improvements, schedule upgrades, and maintain system integrity.
Responsible for the architectural design, development, and deployment of systems infrastructure, defining solutions based on business needs, cost, and integration requirements.
Manages IT asset inventory and ensures licensing compliance for all hardware and software.
Oversees the internally managed ERP system, ensuring it supports key business processes, and collaborates with stakeholders to identify enhancements aligned with operational needs.
Manages vendor and MSP relationships, including setting and maintaining SLAs, participating in strategic planning meetings, and ensuring alignment with IT goals.
Collaborates with business units to understand technology needs and deliver tailored solutions that support operational efficiency and strategic priorities.
Develops and maintains IT policies, procedures, service level agreements (SLAs), and user-facing guides such as FAQs.
Plans, coordinates, and executes IT projects (e.g., system upgrades, deployments, software implementations), including change management, stakeholder communication, and training.
Implements streamlined processes for system upgrades and data migrations, ensuring stability, usability, and security throughout transitions.
Works with the MSP in developing and executing the IT roadmap and long-term strategy to support business growth.
Conducts needs assessments for infrastructure and system enhancements; participates in IT budgeting, forecasting, and investment optimization.
Implements and maintains IT security measures and cybersecurity best practices (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection), in collaboration with the MSP.
Ensures compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., PCI DSS) and oversees disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Facilitates post-project reviews to assess success and identify improvement opportunities.
This position will require occasional travel to convenience store locations, warehouses, and offices to oversee IT infrastructure and projects.
Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Job requirements

· Proficiency in Active Directory, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
· Knowledge of ERP systems and their integration with business processes, particularly in the petroleum industry.
· Understanding of the technical requirements for supporting cardlock fueling station operations.
· Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and tools, including firewalls, EDR solutions, and vulnerability management.
Minimum Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) plus 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a co-managed environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience with ERP systems, particularly in managing and optimizing internal solutions.
· Proven experience managing IT infrastructure across multiple locations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) plus 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in a co-managed environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations (Preferred):
· Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
· Network+
· Apple Certified Associate (ACA)
· CompTIA A+ Technician
· Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
· Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Equipment and Software Requirements:
